Begins October 30th
Cost: $25 per week
Minimum Requirement: 10 weeks
Directed by: Jodi Purdy-Quinlan
Workshops will focus on selecting a character from a play or movie personally suited for you. Each week you will work on developing your character. The class will be videotaped and a DVD will be created showcasing your talent. I will write a personal letter of recommendation for you to send along with a copy of the DVD to my various contacts in the industry; casting directors, producers, directors, writers, etc.
Group Class: Intense, personal one-on-one attention with the added benefit of working with a group of actors who can provide you with the perspective of 10 individuals insight into your performance. You also gain a great deal of insight by watching your fellow actors characters unfold. Each week you will take home a DVD from the prior class, providing you with the opportunity to self-analyze your performance as you move forward. This class will also enhance your auditioning skills and build self-esteem; thus increasing your chance of landing that coveted speaking role.

************************************
This 26-week (52-hour) professional drama program trains children in
Diane Purdy’s ‘Drama by Doing’ method – “To be an Actor you must Act”. Playing improvisational games, reading books on acting, or studying stage skills does not train you as an actor. Acting involves being cast in a play, memorizing lines, learning cues, rehearsing stage movement “blocking” and creating characterizations and then performing in costume with hair and makeup, sets and props in front of a live audience. That’s what we do at CTW! All plays are written by Award-Winning Children’s Playwright, Diane Purdy. There are no individual ‘STARS’, all are treated equally and work together in an ensemble cast resulting in a team effort to produce a professional theatrical showcase of talent. Plays are selected based on class size, student ability and age-range. Check out Diane's Website to view descriptions of her award-winning original plays.
NEW:
CTW classes will be videotaped and aired on a new Webcast (a t.v. show on the web). We will videotape the kids as they develop their characters and rehearse their play. Kids will also do commercials and talent shows that will air on
CTW-WebTV!!

CTW, Inc. a not-for-profit 501(C)3 organization has been building self-confidence, fostering creative expression, enhancing individual potential and creating professional actors since its doors first opened in 1970. CTW provides a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere where kids learn to work in an ensemble. All cast members are guaranteed an integral role in an original script written by Diane. The scripts are created to enhance and stretch each child’s potential as an actor. The children learn to develop characterizations, memorize lines, stage movement, blocking, diction, projection, cueing and acting techniques.
Professional theatre training is one of the organization’s missions. During the past thirty-plus years, many CTW cast members have become members of Equity, Screen Actor’s Guild (S.A.G.) and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (A.F.T.R.A.).
Many CTW graduates now work in professional positions, i.e.: Broadway stage-fencing choreography, voice-overs, print modeling, cabaret entertaining; related backstage fields, i.e.: television assistant producer, stage crew member, box office staff, drama teachers.

Happy Labor Day!!
Time is running out....summer will be officially over on Wednesday, September 3 when the kids return to school. Both my boys will be in school full-time this year, leaving me alone for 6 hours. What will I do?
Well as predicted, 2008 has been extremely busy here in Massachusetts with a record number of movies being filmed. I had the pleasure of casting 1,700 awesome extras in the feature film "Bride Wars" starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. Shooting began on April 7 and we didn't come up for air until the last week of May.
It was another great experience, but it wore me out. At the same time the following films were shooting in the area "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past", "Mall Cop", "The Proposal", "This Side of Truth", "Ashcliffe" and "The Surrogates". Filming will begin shortly on "Edge of Darkness" starring Mel Gibson and Robert DiNero.
In 2007 I had the honor of casting more than 4,000 extras on the following feature films "Pink Panther Deux", "The Lonely Maiden" and "Real Men Cry". I also helped out on "21" and "The Great Debaters".
For the past three years I have been providing details about these opportunities on this website. If I don't already know who you are, you should send me a headshot and resume and fill out a SIZE CARD and return it to purdyquinlan@comcast.net. If you are on MySpace, you should become my friend at
